Morning sickness is a rough part of pregnancy. Especially if you are in the early stages of your pregnancy, you might really struggle with your morning sickness. However, there are a few tips you can remember to help you know what to eat and what not to eat for morning sickness relief. And for many who have experienced trouble getting pregnant, morning sickness can be a bittersweet feeling, assurance that you are indeed pregnant.
Bland Foods: This isn’t a time to try creative, experimental recipes, or spicy, exotic foods. Stick to bland, plain foods that don’t upset your stomach. Try crackers, oatmeal, or toast to keep your stomach from acting up, and save your exciting recipes for another time.
Mint: Mint has long been proven to help with tummy troubles. If your morning sickness is getting the best of you, try a peppermint, a cup of peppermint tea, or something similar that can help to ease your issues.
Water: Although not actually a “food”, make sure to get enough to drink in order to stay hydrated. Keeping hydrated will help your body to combat your morning sickness issues. Drink as much water as you possibly can, as there is not really a way to be “too hydrated” during your pregnancy.
Ginger: Ginger is a food that has always been associated with tummy taming properties. Try ginger ale, ginger snaps, or other ginger flavored foods if you are having an upset tummy moment.
Lemons: Much like ginger, this citrus fruit has been known to calm upset tummies, so keep some on hand when your morning sickness kicks in. You can eat them, or just sniff them to help ease your tummy during it’s troubling moments.
